Assistance from a Cat Leads to the Capture of a Fugitive!

Police in Ephrata, Pennsylvania are crediting a cat with helping them capture a man wanted on an outstanding Lancaster County bench warrant. It all happened on November 28th, in the backyard of a Lancaster County home. Police had determined the man they were looking for – 23-year-old Jonathan Michael Steffy – was in the general vicinity, when they noticed a local cat watching the scene unfold.

Ephrata Police posted the following on their Facebook page, with the words, “You can’t make this up.”:

According to the post, Steffy was found in a shed after a police officer noticed the black cat looking past him toward the shed!

The bench warrant was issued due to a probation violation related to a Nov. 22 terroristic threats charge, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. Steffy has been held at Lancaster County Prison since Nov. 29.

Ephrata Police Department thanks the crime fighting cat for lending a paw!
