Rosinka, a 16-year-old cat that lives in Tyumen Zoo in Russia has accepted a baby monkey as her own. The three-week-old squirrel monkey was basically abandoned by his mother – she refused to carry him on her back – which would have been essential for his survival. Fearing that little Fedor the monkey would die, the zoo’s director Tatyana Antropova introduced the tiny primate to her cat, who has never had kittens herself, and surprisingly, she accepted the baby as her own!
Antropova says Fedor will stay with his feline foster mom for another month until he’s strong enough to be returned to the zoo to live with relatives.
