News reporter Scott Madaus in Memphis, Tennessee is getting a lot of love after he teased a local cougar sighting on Live TV – right before the panning over to an adorable tabby housecat staring into the camera. Watch!
Apparently a lot of people are talking about the cat who stole the show. If you missed it, here ya go. pic.twitter.com/cYSvanti3R

“I’m Scott Madaus, live in Hernando, Mississippi, where there have been spottings of a cougar,” he said, turning dramatically to point toward a clearing — where, sitting in the brush, was a little tabby domestic shorthair. “And that’s not it,” Madaus said as the cameraman zoomed in. “That looks like a house cat.”
While hilarious, the moment wasn’t as unplanned as it seems. Madaus later told Buzzfeed he saw the cat as he was preparing to go live.
“It had come out from this brush from underneath a tree and it was just standing there, staring at me, and I thought how ironic is this that we’re doing a story about a 100-pound-plus possible cougar and here’s this small, little house cat.”
He said he quickly called his producer and told them to cut live to him before the commercial break so he could “tease” his story to viewers with footage of the cat.
His plan worked. The video went viral – and with good reason…it’s adorable! Gotta love local news.
