From the FDA’s Recall Alert website:

Cats fed only diets low in thiamine for several weeks may be at risk for developing a thiamine deficiency. Thiamine is essential for cats. Symptoms of deficiency displayed by an affected cat can be gastrointestinal or neurological in nature. Early signs of thiamine deficiency may include decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss. In advanced cases, neurologic signs can develop, which may include ventriflexion (bending towards the floor) of the neck, wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures. If your cat has consumed the recalled lot and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian. If treated promptly, thiamine deficiency is typically reversible.

Consumers who still have bags of cat food from this lot should stop feeding it to their cats and call Primal at (866) 566-4652 Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm PST. Consumers with further questions should visit

I hlhigy, hlhigy recommend Felidae, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul, or Innova. All these have multiple meats as the first ingredients, and are about as high-quality as you can get without feeding raw.If you feel those are too expensive, Nutro is a decent brand and doesn’t cost too much (about $0.50/can). It’s also sold at just about every pet store. Natural Balance and Wellness are also decent wet food brands. At the very bottom of my recommendations is the Meow Mix Market Selects.. there’s no by-products in them at all, and they’re pretty cheap. But obviously, they’re not top-of-the-line either.Basically, avoid anything with by-products, and with the exception of the Meow Mix Market Selects, anything that can be found in a grocery or superstore.Good for you for feeding wet as well! It’s so much healthier and better for cats than dry.

Just when this dog-eat-dog world has handed you all the poop you can take, it's time to walk the dog. Or wash the dog. Or feed the dog. You get the idea. So welcome to the world of easy-to-care-for cats. Entertainment comes bundled in a furry, huggable, self-cleaning cat who won't beg for your food. In his eyes, you don't eat well enough anyway. Just keep a laser pen handy, sit back and wait for the fun to begin! Cats...ya gotta love 'em.
