Last year, the massive Valley Fire tore through Lake County, California, destroying thousands of homes, killing 4 people, and forcing residents to evacuate.
One of those residents was Nancy, who’s kitty Muscat went missing during the evacuations. Six months later, Nancy and Muscat have been reunited!
Nancy believed her beloved cat had been killed in the fire – until she was out driving near her house last week and saw a cat that looked like Muscat. When she got close, the cat ran to her and she realized it was him!
Nancy immediately took Muscat to Middletown Animal Hospital, who posted about the story on their Facebook page:
Great story for you all: Our client Nancy found her cat on Thursday, March 23, after being missing since the Valley fire! She had been missing Muscat since the evacuation. On Thursday she was driving close to her house and saw a cat that looked like Muscat so she stopped and he came to her! She called us to schedule a check up and we’re happy to report that Muscat is healthy. We updated all vaccines and did a well check on him. She is so happy to have him back. A wonderful reminder to never give up hope!
Hospital spokeswoman Teresa Axthelm told CBS San Francisco that the hospital was able to help Nancy and Muscat through a fund set up for fire victims. The staff are hoping to be able to reunite more pets that were lost during the fire.
