ALERT: Counterfeit Orijen Cat & Dog Food Found in China

Recommended

Champion Pet Foods, the manufacturers of premium dog and cat foods Orijen and Acana have reached out to consumers to inform them of counterfeit pet foods labeled under the Orijen brand found in China.

In a letter to consumers, Chief Brand Officer Peter Muhlenfeld writes,

“We recently received inquiries from concerned pet lovers in China questioning the authenticity of their ORIJEN food. While our investigation is ongoing, we can confirm counterfeit ORIJEN dog and cat food is being sold in China.

OUR FIRST PRIORITY IS FOR THE SAFETY OF DOGS, CATS AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM.

We believe that fraudulent ORIJEN food is only in Mainland China. We are in the process of determining who is responsible and will update you through our website and social media as we uncover more details.

IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE COUNTERFEIT FOOD STOP FEEDING THIS FOOD TO YOUR PET AND CONTACT OUR CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY.”

At this time, Champion Pet Foods feels confident that the fraudulent pet foods are only found in mainland China. However, pet parents around the world that purchase Orijen brand dog or cat foods through online auction and re-seller websites like Amazon and eBay should take extra precautions to ensure they’re purchasing from an authorized seller or retail store.

If you feed Orijen brand dog or cat food, please take a moment to read Champion Pet Food’s FAQs and review your pet food labels using the chart below:
