Catch of the Day: Fishing Crew Rescues a Drenched Kitten From the Open Ocean

When you go fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, you expect to see fish and birds, but Still Flyin Charters out of Orange Beach, Alabama got an unusual surprise last week during one of their trips — they came upon a tiny orange cat out in the open sea, struggling to stay above water. No, not a catfish – an actual cat!

“Our catch of the day. Poor little guy was sucked out by the tide,” the crew shared on their Facebook page on July 29th. “We caught him just outside the pass in the gulf. He was struggling to stay up.”

Captain and owner of Still Flyin Charters, Steve Crews told the local Fox affiliate, Fox29 that the kitten was meowing as they scooped him out of the water. Once on board, they dried him off and comforted him til the boat was back to shore.

Once on shore, the boat’s deckhand was able to find the little guy a home.

“Can’t say you see that every day,” the crew’s Facebook post read.
