Perhaps Popular Pet Names Will Predict the Presidential Election

shutterstock_292140563With the presidential race really heating up, pet insurance provider, Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, just released some fun political trends in pet names. Only time will tell if these new naming trends are any indication of which candidate will become our next POTUS.

After analyzing the naming trends of more than 1 million dogs and cats in its database, Healthy Paws Pet Insurance has identified that some of this year’s most popular politicians appear to be inspiring pet parents when it comes to names:

  • Cats and dogs are feelin’ the Bern with a 5 percent increase in pets named after the Vermont native since 2014
  • There has been a 1 percent increase in pets named after Donald Trump, the Republican presumptive nominee
  • Hillary Clinton saw the least support with a 17 percent decrease in pets named after the Democratic presumptive nominee

No matter which candidate a pet parent is supporting, our friends at Healthy Paws are committed to keeping their furry family members healthy and happy long after the new President is sworn into office.  Is your furry family member named after anyone in particular? Just when this dog-eat-dog world has handed you all the poop you can take, it's time to walk the dog. Or wash the dog. Or feed the dog. You get the idea. So welcome to the world of easy-to-care-for cats. Entertainment comes bundled in a furry, huggable, self-cleaning cat who won't beg for your food. In his eyes, you don't eat well enough anyway. Just keep a laser pen handy, sit back and wait for the fun to begin! Cats...ya gotta love 'em.
