Suspected ‘Cat Killer’ on the Loose as 5 Cats Die on the Same Street

5 cats on the same street in the UK have died from poisoning within a week, and it’s suspected they are all connected.

Natalie Bond lost two healthy cats, Tilly, age 12, and 3-year-old Peppa. Tilly was the first to die. Natalie told Metro, “She couldn’t stand up and her back legs had gone. A few hours later she had a really bad seizure and was sick. Then she passed away.”

At first they thought she had passed away from old age, but then Peppa suffered from the same symptoms a few days later. They took Peppa to the RSPCA immediately after she passed for a necropsy and they said it appeared as though she had been poisoned.

When Natalie posted about her cats on Facebook, that’s when others came forward. Natalie said, “Really quickly a few ladies commented on it and said that the same thing had happened to them as well.”

Claire Gibbons said her cat Charlie had died the same way.  Then Joanne Seddon said her cat Hagrid also died after suffering seizures.

Claire said, “I don’t know why they are doing this. It’s all on the same road too so it can’t be a coincidence.” All of the deaths have occurred on Balcarres Road in Aspull, Wigan.

The RSPCA, which is investigating, is warning pet owners to be vigilant. “We do not know for sure if these were accidental incidents or deliberate but in the meantime we would ask for everyone in the area to check where they keep their pesticides and chemicals including antifreeze and make sure it is secure and out of the way of cats. People should check their car radiators for leaks too.”

Anyone with information is asked to call RSPCA’s appeal line on 0300 123 8018 and reference Inspector Susie Micallef.
