A New Jersey woman has been charged with animal cruelty after someone posted a video of her throwing a cat out of a third-story window on social media.

Nineteen-year-old Tikeeman Lassiter of Clifton, NJ was arrested on Saturday and charged with animal cruelty in Newark. Authorities said a concerned citizen alerted them after seeing a video posted to social media that allegedly showed Lassiter throwing the cat from a third-floor balcony while her friend laughed in the background. Detectives investigated and determined she was the suspect after discovering she was visiting relatives in town at the time the incident occurred.

WARNING – DISTURBING VIDEO:

Both Lassiter and another woman are heard cackling as they watch the cat struggle to move, the Daily Mail said.

“It’s dead?” one of them asks before breaking into a fit of laughter.

The cat is now in the care of the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a law enforcement agency that investigates cases of animal cruelty.

The law enforcement agency will decide where to place the cat after a veterinarian evaluates its health.
