A friendly stray kitty just got herself some fancy new digs, courtesy of the Boston Police Department!

Officers in the Mobile Operations unit have been caring for the adorable stray calico, that they’ve named SWAT (of course!), since she wandered up to the BPD Special Weapons and Tactics base back in 2013 and never left.

According to Boston PD’s official website, Officer Jamie Pietroski, a 15-year veteran of the Boston Police Department, stayed late after work for several nights painstakingly preparing Swat Cat’s new home.

The condo features a spacious studio interior layout, a large deck for outdoor dining and glass sliding doors offering panoramic city views.  Swat Cat moved right in and looks very happy with her new custom kitty accommodations.

Apparently, officers have tried convincing the pretty calico kitty to come inside and enjoy a life indoors, but – according to a comment a spokesperson from BPD wrote online, “…she is set in her ways. They have built numerous shelters for her in the past – none more impressive than this one which is fully insulated and suits her independent lifestyle.”

Many thanks to Officer Pietroski and the Boston PD for ensuring their unofficial mascot (mascat?) Swat Cat has a warm, safe place to live! She seems to be thoroughly enjoying her new digs.
